We are seeking a results-driven and analytical Business Analyst/ Underwriting Manager to support our Corporate Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance business, with a specific focus on underwriting analysis. This role will be instrumental in driving data-informed decision-making, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting the overall performance of our commercial insurance portfolio.
The ideal candidate will bring strong insurance industry experience (especially in P&C underwriting and claims), analytical skills, and a solid understanding of business process improvement and workload monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting Support:
- Analyze underwriting performance across lines of business, regions, broker channels, and account segments.
- Partner with underwriting leadership to assess risk appetite, pricing adequacy, and portfolio mix management.
- Support the development and refinement of underwriting processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and adherence to guidelines.
- Monitor and evaluate underwriting workloads and resource allocation across teams to optimize productivity.
- Design and maintain dashboards and tools to provide real-time insights into underwriting activity, capacity, and turnaround times.
- Track quote-to-bind ratios and submission trends to identify workflow bottlenecks and areas for process enhancement.
Cross-functional Analysis & Insights:
- Provide actionable business intelligence to underwriting, claims, actuarial, product, and finance teams.
- Develop, automate, and maintain performance dashboards and management reporting tools for executive and operational stakeholders.
- Translate complex data into meaningful insights and strategic recommendations for business decision-makers.
Project & Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between underwriting operations, IT, and data teams to define business requirements and implement process or system enhancements.
- Support strategic initiatives, including portfolio steering, operational reviews, system migrations, and regulatory compliance reporting.
- Lead or support initiatives to improve operational processes, performance measurement, and customer responsiveness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related field. Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CPCU, AINS, CBAP) a plus.
- 3–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in the insurance industry, preferably within commercial P&C.
- Solid understanding of underwriting and claims processes in corporate/commercial insurance.
- Experience in workload monitoring, operations performance tracking, and underwriting support processes.
- Strong proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau).
- Familiarity with core insurance systems (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek) and workflow management platforms.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
