Job Description
Handary is a food shelf-life specialist, we seek a food ingredient formulation scientist, who will be responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing formulations using food ingredients, while providing technical application support to meet customer and market needs. This role involves hands-on laboratory and pilot-scale work, collaboration with R&D, production, and marketing teams, and translating scientific knowledge into innovative solutions for food and beverage applications.
Tasks & Responsabilities:
- Design and develop new formulations using functional food ingredients.
- Conduct laboratory trials, pilot tests, and application studies to validate performance.
- Adapt formulations to meet customer requirements, regulatory standards, and clean-label trends.
- Investigate ingredient interactions, stability, and functionality in different food matrices.
- Provide technical support to sales and marketing teams, including customer presentations and application notes.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Stay updated with scientific literature, industry trends, and new technologies in food science.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, QA/QC, procurement, and business development) to bring new products to market.
- Troubleshoot formulation and application challenges for internal teams and external customers.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Proven experience in formulation and applications within the food & beverage industry.
- Strong knowledge of ingredient functionalities (proteins, hydrocolloids, enzymes, antimicrobials, antioxidants, etc.).
- Hands-on laboratory and pilot-plant skills.
- Ability to analyze data, problem-solve, and deliver practical solutions.
- Strong communication skills for customer interaction and cross-team collaboration.
- Proficiency with analytical tools, lab equipment, and MS Office (experience with statistical/DOE software is a plus).
