Role description:
Client’s ambition is to be a clear world leader in clean mobility materials and recycling. The company focuses on application areas where its expertise in materials science, chemistry and metallurgy makes a real difference.
Department description and responsibilities
The Information Services (IS) department at client is responsible for delivering digital solutions that support the company’s strategic goals. The team is currently undergoing a major transformation, moving from a traditional data warehouse setup per Business Unit, to a data product/domain-driven architecture.
Project description
Client is building a new data platform based on Databricks and DBT, moving away from the current Time Xtender (Data Warehouse Automation tool). The goal is to federate data ownership and enable domain-driven thinking, while still ensuring central governance where needed, by building smaller-scale and self-contained data products, each attributed to a specific domain and with a clear business owner.
The Senior Data Architect will support this transition by helping define and implement architectural frameworks, methodologies, and best practices. The architect will work closely with the current Data Architect, to challenge and refine technical solutions and align them with both IS goals and Business Unit (BU) needs.
Primary Tasks and responsibilities
• Confirm and articulate the data architecture vision and roadmap
• Provide technical guidance on data modeling within data products
• Define strategies for redesigning and migrating solutions from legacy systems to the new data platform
• Establish a methodology to avoid duplication across data products as the amount of data products increases.
• Develop standards for handling master data, reference data, and mappings
• Help implement templates for security within and across data products (development & end-user access), in accordance with existing IT Security Guidelines & requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IS, BU’s, external partners)
• Support and challenge the current Data Architect in strategic discussions
Technical profile requirements

• Experience with extracting SAP data, preferably both with SAP BW and non-BW solutions
• Experience with data ingestion tools (Data Factory or similar)
• Deep understanding of data modeling, data governance, and enterprise-grade security requirements
• Proven track record with data platform migrations and legacy transitions
• Ability to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
Non-Technical profile requirements
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to challenge and support internal teams constructively
• Proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented mindset
• Comfortable working in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment
• Agile mindset, aiming to build to scale but willing to fail fast
