The International Operations Agent is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day import/export of international freight forwarding shipments into and out of Belgium through international air freight transportation based upon customer requests.
Location: Antwerp | Department: Import / Export & Logistics | Start Date: As soon as possible
- Work with customers to qualify their shipping requirements and obtain all details (regulations, certificates, documentation) necessary for shipment quotation and operating to ensure the customer’s request is satisfied.
- Prepare profitable quotations accurately and ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines.
- Set shipping schedules and communicate with customers, deliverers, and ports to verify loading, departures, and arrivals in a timely manner.
- Coordinate the day-to-day import and/or export of products, including reviewing orders and documents.
- Track and communicate all delays, damages, problems and work to resolve customer issues.
- Responsible for all aspects of air and/or ocean international operations such as customer service, data entry of shipments, operations and billing.
- Manage all aspects of tracking shipments to ensure shipment is moving as scheduled and update system immediately upon verification. Identify and rectify if a shipment has deviated from its schedule.
- Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with various cartage agents and international partners.
- Partner with local sales teams to communicate problems to customers, international partners, and other stations, as needed.
- Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs and guidelines are followed and met.
- Process and comply with all requirements listed by regulatory agencies. Thereby, execute all Dangerous Goods shipments in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations (as applicable).
- Network with corresponding departments to ensure files are billed and posted prior to end of month
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional major European languages are a plus
- Experience with CargoWise is a plus
- Familiarity with ITAR, Dangerous Goods, or TSA regulations is advantageous
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to building strong internal and external relationships
