For Payments & Settlements Services sub division Belgium. we are looking for an IT Area Lead TIP&SEPA.
Payments are indispensable to and an integral part of our lives as individuals, as businesses and to our organisation. ING’s Payment and Settlement Services (“PSS”) is a professional services provider in payments, settlements, and open banking. PSS is building a global payments platform to consolidate all of ING’s payments volumes resulting in cost-efficiency for ING and a more strengthened and centralised control environment for payments.
As an IT Area Lead, you will become part of this global organisation and become responsible for defining the vision & strategy for ING’s TIP and SEPA area’s in Belgium. You will be leading the delivery by the agile teams, working closely with the IT Lead of the area and the product leads.
The Area
You will work in the most dynamic and challenging environment of PSS Tech BE, The TIP & SEPA Area.
TIP: True international payments FI and Non FI provides IT services for Corresponding banking & liquidity mgt. Several important ongoing initiatives are happening in this domain. Next Gen, FCP 2 DT, FI solution development, NBP… The area exists mostly out of cobol and .net applications for which the functionality needs to find a landing spot in the years to come.
SEPA: SEPA Payments are your standard way of transferring money within the sepa area. This entitles several important IT assets legacy and target applications. The group solution for SDD is being managed and build in this area and for next phases several target decisions are still to be made and build.
You work with the larger organization, engage tech teams and stakeholders across many countries with regard to cross-product services and be part of the management team in the Area. You will steer roughly 84 people:
Roles and responsibilities
- You’ll be responsible for the development and craftmanship of the engineering teams. Steering the diversity in roles and managing the sourcing strategy across countries. Building and expanding the engineering practices in the teams
- You’ll define and implement the area's IT delivery strategy , identifying and adopting changes in the market relevant to payments.
- You’ll be responsible for the end-to-end tech delivery of the area's capabilities. You’ll be working with Architecture and the Product Area Lead on defining and executing the strategic roadmap and making sure we deliver according to our promises
- Responsible for operating highly productized services, from the angles of Operations, finance, risk and security. Your incident management is top notch and you’re a trusted partner
- IT Custodianship of the Belgian Payment assets
- Predictable delivery of squads in your area and live up to our promises concerning the quality of our services
- Reliable operation of IT assets in your area and install/nurture a ‘zero outage’ culture
- Stakeholder management and contributing to QBRs of the PSS and beyond.
- Providing technical leadership, and growing craftsmanship to the IT Chapters in your area with an emphasis on Agile customer-centric software development
- People-oriented management and growth of Chapter leads and technical people
- Optimizing the setup of what we build offshore with our SSI partner and IBSS

- Experience with managing in IT for at least 5 years for high critical applications. Experience in managing managers is a nice to have
- Knowledge in the field of Payments
- Experience in setting out a vision and translating that to a delivery organization
- Experience in supporting/rolling out software at scale
- Skills working with a wide variety of types of stakeholders up to C-level
- Excellent written and spoken skills in the English language
- You are comfortable working in an international context, within virtual teams and can interact easily with international stakeholders;
- An entrepreneur that combines tech with client focus
- Strong organisational sensitivity; ability to understand and take into account the underlying issues, opportunities and dynamics of the full ING organisation
