Job Description:
We are looking for a Senior Functional Analyst with strong experience in Mainframe environments and Payments processing, particularly in SEPA Direct Debit and other payment-related systems.
The ideal candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, developers, and testing teams to analyze, document, and validate functional requirements for payment solutions within the IT Payments Tribe.
Key Responsibilities:
• Gather and analyze business requirements related to payment processing (SEPA Direct Debit, Credit Transfers, etc.)
• Translate business needs into functional specifications, use cases, and process flows
• Collaborate with technical teams working on Mainframe (COBOL, DB2, CICS) to ensure clear understanding of requirements
• Support the end-to-end project lifecycle including testing, implementation, and post implementation support
• Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies within the tribe
• Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., PSD2, SEPA scheme rules)
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage dependencies and deliverables
Required Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience (8+ years) as a Functional Analyst in complex IT environments
• Strong expertise in Mainframe systems (COBOL, DB2, JCL, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of Payments, especially SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) flows, mandates, and file formats (e.g., XML pain.008)
• Understanding of the full lifecycle of payment transactions (clearing, settlement, exception handling)
• Prior experience working in Agile environments (SAFe is a plus)
• Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
• Fluent in English and French (spoken and written) – mandatory
• Tools: Visio, BPMN modeling tools, PlantUML, JIRA, Confluence, SQL clients, and Mainframe interfaces.
Nice to Have:
• Knowledge of Real-Time Payments, ISO 20022,
• Open Banking Knowledge and Rest APIs (Swagger)
• Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector
• Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in legacy/mainframe ecosystems
