As an HSE Manager, you play a key role in overseeing the quality, health, safety, and environmental (QHSSE) aspects at our civil engineering sites. The Defense headquarters in Evere, the VRT in Brussels—these are all projects of the Jan De Nul Group.
As an HSE Manager, you will be part of our prestigious project in Farciennes or Charleroi/Mons, where you will be part of a dedicated project team.
Your tasks:
You are the SPOC (Single Point of Contact) for safety with respect to the client.
You communicate with subcontractors (EHS) regarding safety issues.
You are familiar with the client’s contractual safety requirements and act accordingly.
You develop a process and structure to meet these safety expectations.
You oversee the entire safety process.
You manage the EHS team of Jan De Nul (administration and supervisors).
You conduct audits at the start and closure of the project on behalf of the client.
You perform proactive internal audits to improve our EHS approach.
You organize coaching sessions for workers on risky or issue-specific topics.
What do you need?
A bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental management, safety management, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a similar field.
Experience as an environmental coordinator, safety coordinator, or prevention advisor is a plus.
At least 8 years of experience as a prevention advisor.
A very good command of English.
Strong communication and social skills. You know how to talk to everyone appropriately, and you can lead and guide effectively.
Ability to set priorities and plan efficiently to meet deadlines.
A strong character. If you see a dangerous situation, you dare to call it out and investigate it thoroughly. You are not easily discouraged and know how to persist appropriately, even in the face of resistance.
Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing conditions on the site.
You like to think and work collaboratively with the site management, with both a practical and critical perspective.
