Your role
As Group Tax Counsel you will be part of the Tax Team and you will, together with your colleague, be responsible for corporate tax matters, transfer pricing, VAT, local taxes and customs (questions on a daily basis as well as projects).
In your role you will focus on corporate income tax and work together with your colleagues of the Group Tax Department, the local finance departments, the finance centres of expertise, the legal department, and other central and local departments. You will also collaborate with external advisors and external auditors. You will get the opportunity to have a taste of the other tax areas which are not your focus, such as transfer pricing, VAT, customs and gain knowledge and experiences in these tax matters.
You will report to the Group Tax Manager.
Your key responsibilities:
- Tax planning and strategy: monitor, maintain, adjust, develop together with the Group Tax Manager the global tax strategies of the Vandemoortele Group to ensure compliance and optimize tax efficiency.
- Prepare and lead corporate income tax projects eg integration of acquisitions;
- Tax compliance: Oversee the preparation and review, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness filing. This includes Pillar II compliance and withholding tax compliance.
- Tax accounting and reporting: review accurateness and completeness of tax accounting and current and deferred tax calculations.
- Tax audits: assist and manage tax audits, disputes and controversies, including questions/discussions with tax authorities.
- Tax risk management: identify and assess tax risks and propose mitigations
- Prepare, file, discuss and obtain corporate income tax rulings
- Support and advice business and group projects on corporate income tax aspects
- Ensure DAC6 reporting compliance for the Vandemoortele Group.
- Stay up to date with international tax laws, regulations, and treaties and advise on tax implications of cross border transactions

Are you the one we’re looking for?
- You hold a Master's degree in Law or Economics/Business Administration combined with an additional Master Degree in Tax;
- You have a good knowledge of corporate income tax and you understand accounting. Having notions of transfer pricing, VAT is a plus;
- You have at least 5 years of experience in corporate income tax;
- You have a good and quick business understanding of related areas and of the business;
- You're able to manage numerous projects simultaneously, often under deadline pressure;
- You have good analytical skills and can analyse financial data and law/regulations;
- You are able to translate legal obligations into workable solutions;
- Your excellent communication and networking skills enable you to engage your internal stakeholders;
- You are proactive with good organisation and planning skills. At the same time, you are pragmatic, problem-solving and looking for initiative;
- You like working together in a team, but are also able to work autonomously;
- Furthermore you are flexible, driven and open to receive and give challenges;
- You have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, in English, Dutch and French.
