About the role
The Sports Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective realisation of the operational, service and quality standards as agreed with the client. This includes ensuring optimal coordination of people and resources, high-quality service delivery across multiple departments (fitness, aquatics, reception, events, wellbeing), and creating a consistent and exceptional member experience. The Operations Manager supports both strategic direction and daily execution and provides leadership to the staff on location.
The Sports Operations Manager reports directly to the General Manager of the NATO Staff Centre and collaborates closely with other internal stakeholders across High Five and Westfield Health.
What You’ll Do
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operational management of all services within the Staff Centre (fitness, aquatics, wellness, tennis, events, reception, housekeeping).
- Coordinate and optimise planning and scheduling of staff, classes, services and activities.
- Lead the implementation and evaluation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure service consistency, safety, and compliance.
- Support team leads in coaching and supervision of staff; ensure appropriate delegation and follow-up.
- Oversee procurement, stock and vendor management related to equipment, materials and uniforms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NATO stakeholders, departments and partners.
- Facilitate the preparation and implementation of seasonal and long-term activity programming.
- Monitor service KPIs, member satisfaction and usage data, and translate these into improvement actions.
- Contribute to the operational strategy and development of business cases, reports and budgets.
- Support recruitment, onboarding and development of new staff and instructors.
- Promote cross-departmental collaboration and coordinate support for events.
- Provide strong on-the-floor leadership presence and uphold the values of High Five and Westfield Health.
About you
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sport Management, Health Promotion, Hospitality or equivalent; Master’s degree is a plus.
- 3+ years in a leadership role within a sports, health, or corporate wellness environment.
- Proven experience in operational coordination, team management, and service excellence.
- Experience working in multi-service environments (fitness, wellness, events, etc.).
- Able to manage both administrative and people management responsibilities.
- Data-driven and performance-oriented, with strong attention to detail.
- Skilled communicator, able to interface with clients, stakeholders and teams in a multicultural environment.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); French and/or Dutch is a strong asset.
- Experienced in using planning, HR and operational systems
