VITO, one of Europe’s leading research centers with 1,300 employees, transforms scientific insights into groundbreaking technological innovations, AI-driven solutions, and policy advice. We do so to help the world thrive for at least another 1,000 years.
We’re looking for an HR Business Partner who sees talent as the catalyst for innovation. You’ll blend strategic vision with hands-on execution, ensuring that the brightest minds — from Belgium to every corner of the globe — join, grow, and thrive at VITO.
Your impact - why this role matters
In a knowledge-driven organization like ours, people are the breakthrough. As HR Business Partner, you will work closely with line management and the senior leadership team to translate our human capital strategy into measurable results.
You will:
Advise and coach leaders on all aspects of the employee life cycle — from organizational design and workforce planning to performance management and talent development.
Partner strategically with leaders to align HR priorities with business goals, ensuring our teams have the skills, engagement, and support to deliver on VITO’s mission.
Drive organizational effectiveness by challenging constructively and guiding leaders in decisions that balance business needs with employee well-being.
Lead and coordinate HR initiatives within your business units, working with the Corporate Recruiters, HR specialists, and fellow Business Partners to ensure consistent, high-quality people practices across VITO.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for change, guiding leaders through transformation, and embedding best practices into daily operations.
As the bridge between people and purpose, you’ll ensure leadership has insight, tools, and support to get the very best from their teams — while fostering a culture where innovation and well-being go hand in hand.
Master’s degree in a social sciences field (HR, Work & Organizational Psychology, Education, Business Economics) or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years in a broad HR role, ideally in an international and innovative environment.
Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with discretion, flexibility, and a customer focus.
Fluency in Dutch and English, spoken and written.
