Role Overview
We are looking for two experienced System Architects to support the evolution of a complex real-time traffic and infrastructure management platform used 24/7 for the control and supervision of a national infrastructure network.
The architects will play a key role in defining the future architecture of the system, ensuring it aligns with long-term goals, operational constraints, safety and security standards, and overall maintainability.
This is a cross-functional role, combining requirements analysis, high-level architectural design, and technical leadership. You will work closely with stakeholders to capture needs, translate them into future-proof architectures, and guide development teams during implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement
• Act as a liaison between the delivery teams and the end client to clarify and document high-level functional requirements.
• Moderate workshops and technical discussions to gather input and validate architectural decisions.
• Produce high-level requirement documents that enable accurate effort estimation and autonomous implementation by development teams.
Architecture Design & Governance
• Translate operational and business needs into robust, scalable, and maintainable system architectures aligned with the product roadmap.
• Create system architecture designs and high-level design documentation.
• Ensure architectural consistency across all teams and components, with a focus on safety, security, serviceability, and maintainability.
• Propose solutions that balance long-term vision with operational constraints.
Project Support & Implementation Guidance
• Support development teams during implementation phases by providing architectural guidance and resolving design questions.
• Participate in safety and security-related activities.
• Ensure that all architectural deliverables are produced on time, reviewed, and approved in line with quality processes.
Required Skills & Competencies
Essential Skills
• Proven experience in requirement analysis and documentation.
• Expertise in moderating workshops and extracting actionable inputs under tight deadlines.
• Ability to translate requirements into clear, structured, and comprehensive documentation.
• Knowledge of data modelling and design methodologies (UML or similar).
• Experience in UI application design and software implementation.
• Good understanding of hardware, software, network architecture, firewalls, servers, and security.
• Full lifecycle experience in the software development process.
• Willingness to learn and modernize legacy safety-critical systems.
Languages
• English: Fluent written and spoken (mandatory).
• Dutch/French: Professional proficiency preferred.
