Rud Pedersen Public Affairs is looking for a motivated trainee to join our growing Brussels public affairs consultancy for a 6-month paid internship.
Who are we?
With around 75 team members, our growing Brussels’ office is focused on the delivery of integrated European Affairs and Communications support to its clients across a broad range of sectors.
Formed in September, 2022 the Policy Communications practice supports Rud Pedersen’s Public Affairs consultancy offer by building the profile of our clients, raising awareness of policy issues and using the full suite of public-facing communications methods and channels to influence the audiences that matter.
What is Policy Communications?
Policy Communications is about creating an agreeable landscape for brands to exercise influence on the EU policy agenda. Through public-facing communication campaigns, we seek to simultaneously raise the levels of recognition and favourability that our clients enjoy among their target audiences.
You will support the Policy Communications practice by:
·Contributing creative ideas to client communications campaigns. ·Implementing communications strategies that provide a logical blend of channels and tactics to fulfil client objectives.
·Drafting concept notes for specific executions (e.g. paid media campaign; stakeholder event; press engagement).
·Diving into a broad range of policy issues with a view to understanding complex, legalistic text and crunching it into bitesize messages.
·Crafting messages for communications channels (paid, owned, shared, earned).
·Database management (journalists and stakeholders).
·Working collaboratively with policy colleagues, creative colleagues and partner agencies – providing clear and understandable briefings.
·Managing workflows and processes within broader projects.
·Drafting monthly performance reports, interrogating metrics and drawing conclusions and recommendations for changes in tactics based on the numbers.
·Supporting and contributing to the Rud Pedersen Brussels brand marketing strategy.
Your profile
- You have a relevant degree (e.g. Political Science/International Relations/Law/Political Communications/Marketing Communications/Languages & Linguistics)
- Passion the EU affairs field and a clear understanding of the EU policymaking process.
- You have an affinity for the written word and understand the importance of communication in achieving your goals.
- You have mother-tongue equivalent mastery of English.
- You have a strategic mind and believe that all actions should be underpinned by specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time-bound objectives.
- Experience managing communications channels a plus.
- You have a natural curiosity to know how communication outputs translate into outcomes for the client.
- You are press and/or social media savvy and you are across the Brussels news agenda and/or latest social media trends.
- You take energy from the creative process of ideation, and you don’t get discouraged when your ideas are challenged.
