The Key responsibilities expected from our consultant might include:
Support projects through high-quality and detail-oriented execution, ensuring accuracy and meeting expectations:
- Build the project budget structure in line with the cost-management plan and WBS
- Integrate every cost element into the SAP system and keep data consistent
- Document each change analysis by creating schedule simulations
- Apply approved change requests to the budget and archive the new baselines
- Introduce and use advanced budget-estimating techniques when needed
- Propose improvements to the way projects and programmes are cost-managed
Support projects with rational and data-driven assessments of costs, quality and timelines, providing objective analyses for decision-making:
- Keep track of cost contingencies set in the cost-management plan
- Establish the cost baseline and monitor every deviation with justification
- Update and refine cost forecasts using earned-value data, challenging all inputs
- Analyse schedule and budget figures and feed the results into reports
- Perform schedule and cost impact studies for each change request
- Continuously question and verify the incoming budget inputs
Support projects by facilitating communication and reporting between stakeholders:
- Organise meetings with budget stakeholders to gather and record cost data
- Provide monthly cost reports with baseline comparisons and KPIs to the project team
- Collect invoicing requests from contractors and suppliers and obtain payment approval
- Report periodically to Corporate Controlling departments
- Work closely with the Project Scheduler, Risk Manager and PM Officer
- Share best practices and coach team members to improve their cost estimates
- Act as the budgeting expert and champion within the project team
The experience we are actively looking for:
- Expertise with MS Excel, SAP and PowerBI
- Strong background in cost management methodology
- Knowledge of infrastructure project environments
- Understanding of PMI/PMBOK practices is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to challenge budget inputs critically
- Fluency in English; knowledge of French and/or Dutch is an asset
- Valid work and residence permits for Belgium (mandatory for non-EU candidates)
- Immediate availability and presence in Belgium are preferred
