The scope, here, is to manage the telecom component of multiple strategic energy infrastructure projects, ensuring technical robustness, operational readiness, and integration into Belgium’s high-voltage network.
The Key responsibilities expected from our consultant might include:
Support projects through high-quality and detail-oriented execution, ensuring accuracy and meeting expectations
- Define, study, and design the telecom scope of high-voltage infrastructure projects (380 kV – 36 kV) up to commissioning and administrative closure.
- Translate project needs into concrete telecom requirements.
- Determine the correct telecom solution with infrastructure managers and document it in a Telecom Project Note.
- Draft the Telecom Project Note to serve as the basis for tender files, with all sub-phases clearly described.
- Assist the design team in preparing detailed plans for construction and operation of the telecom installation.
- Participate in defining new telecom concepts and setting up framework agreements for telecom equipment with the expertise department.
Support projects with rational and data-driven assessments of costs, quality, and timelines, providing objective analyses for decision-making
- Prepare budget estimates and conduct telecom feasibility studies.
- Contribute to pilot projects that validate new telecom concepts, equipment, and related tools on the Belgian grid.
Support projects by facilitating communication and reporting between stakeholders
- Manage roughly twenty telecom sub-projects in parallel within the main infrastructure programme.
- Assist the overarching project leader during the site phase.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team, taking available resources into account.
- Report telecom progress to the project leaders of the main infrastructure project.
- Cooperate closely with the department responsible for developing and supporting the telecom backbone.
The experience we are actively looking for:
- Master's degree in electrical engineering or electromechanics (civil or industrial engineer)
- Proven sense of responsibility and excellent organisational skills
- Ability to oversee and manage multiple parallel projects
- Strong, assertive communication style with customer orientation and solution mindset
- Prior experience with telecom projects is an asset
- Valid work and residence permits for Belgium (mandatory for non-EU candidates)
- Immediate availability and presence in Belgium are preferred
