THE OPPORTUNITY
The New Product Development & Supply Category within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Research Procurement is recruiting for a Manager, Procurement CMC & Devices.
The Manager, Procurement CMC & Devices, will shape and deliver solutions for a spend of more than $100 MM supporting the Synthetics TDS (Therapeutics Development & Supply) organization. Main stakeholders within the TDS organization are CPRD (Chemical Process Research & Development) focusing on the development of the organically synthetized drug substance and PPDS (Pharmaceutical Product Development & Supply) focusing on the development of the drug product.
The key responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:
Category Strategy Development
- Build robust and relevant category strategies that are strongly aligned to the business needs, priorities, and market dynamics.
- Develop/support category sourcing strategy through business needs assessment, market intelligence, supplier evaluations and sourcing choices
- Develop a deep understanding of the business needs and external market trends to support the development of robust modality strategies.
- Proactively engage business partners and/or category managers to identify their needs and incorporate those needs for the modality strategies
- Partner with the Agile and Global Services teams in the execution of strategic sourcing events and negotiations
- Deliver against performance targets for the Innovative Medicine Procurement organization
Supplier Management
- Serve as global Supplier Relationship manager to strategic suppliers and ensuring maximum value and innovation from those partnerships.
- Develop and manage supplier partnerships to drive performance delivery, risk mitigation, and value through supplier enabled innovation.
- Cultivate and leverage strategic relationships with key business partners (e.g. Internal stakeholders, supplier leadership, SRM/category leaders) to shape, optimize, and diversify the supply base
- Develop innovative and sustainable solutions to identify and mitigate risk, drive long-term, end-to-end value, and achieve unmet business needs. Identifies and pursues opportunities to develop supplier capabilities.
Contracting
- Mitigate business risk through the understanding of commercial, legal and regulatory requirements and the use of efficient contracting channels leveraging standard processes and technology.
- Use procurement expertise and global business understanding to monitor the negotiation and execution of contracts by the Supplier Contracting Services organization

What you need to succeed:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required, and an MBA or other advanced degree is desirable.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum 5 years related experience is required (preferably in Procurement, Business Operations or Supply Chain)
- Able to persuade others to change behavior in pursuit of a common goal
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills at the senior executive level, as well as with peers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to expertly present complex information to senior executives
- Broad-based understanding of core procurement areas of focus including spend management, source-to-pay.
- Strong project and change management capabilities
- Proven learning agility, improving both yourself and the people around you
- Ability to effectively deliver against Goals and Objectives while also balancing a modified schedule and shared roles and responsibilities with other team members
Preferred:
- Preferred experience in Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Medical Technology sectors
- BA/BS in chemical engineering, life sciences or relate field
- Advanced degree, such as a Ph.D., Master of Science, etc.
- Experience with writing category strategies
- Working knowledge within drug substance and/or drug product development
- High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community, based on broad experience
- Track record in participating and leading cross-functional teams
- Flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
