We are currently looking for a Junior Scientist, ideally with hands-on laboratory experience to join our R&D team in our facility in Ghent/Zwijnaarde.
The candidate should have a high drive to generate qualitative results together and in tight collaboration with other members of the project team in a professional and challenging fashion. This all happens in a dynamic, informal and stimulating environment where you and your colleagues work to reach the set goals. Every employee gets the opportunity to get involved in all the various steps within her/his project.
The job is based in our facility in Zwijnaarde, Belgium. Daily presence on site is expected.

Work description
Responsibilities:
- Discover, characterize and optimize therapeutic antibodies
- Executing a variety of molecular biology assays such as PCR, ELISA and SDS Page
- Plan and execute experiments independently including interpretation and reporting of the results with detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, data, and results
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills by identifying and implementing creative solutions to unexpected challenges, supported by the team
- Actively participate in project teams, organize work and understand priorities and completes assignments accordingly
- Keen to learn new techniques and to share expertise with others
- Processing and analyzing samples from pre-clinical animal studies
Expertise area:

Profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Molecular biology or related field
- Open for recent graduates and candidates with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience
- Working experience in laboratory is desirable
- Knowledge and hands on experience of protein related work and biochemical assays is a plus
- Team player, motivated, enthusiastic, accurate in execution and reporting
- Good communication skills
- Good writing skills in English
