Stratas Advisors is seeking a Brussels-based analyst to join our Cleantech and Hydrogen practices. This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of emerging low-carbon technology solutions globally in a dynamic, international team. Excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to be self-driven and work independently, are critical to this role.
The Analyst will conduct quantitative and qualitative research to shape and generate long-term forecasts on the energy and transportation industries within the context of the ongoing energy transition. Research tasks will include gathering, cleaning, and analyzing market data as well as keeping up-to-date on policy and technology developments shaping global industry trends. The Analyst should be able to translate a variety of data into actionable insights and key takeaways to support clients through ad hoc consulting engagements, subscription-based client-facing reports and materials, and deep-dive analysis and research. The Analyst should have work or academic experience in a related field, a solid independent work ethic with a collaborative approach, and a strong interest in decarbonization and clean energy technologies. In this role, the Analyst will help support Stratas Advisors’ strong knowledge base on key emerging technologies including EVs, batteries, critical raw materials, hydrogen, and e-fuels – through various applications across transportation modes (road, aviation, shipping) and other industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of client-facing quantitative and qualitative analysis of transport and energy markets in reports and data deliverables as well as in other forms, such as PowerPoint slides/Excel data customized for clients in consulting engagements.
- Engage in the development of Stratas Advisors’ web-based services through the maintenance and regular updating of datasets and forecasts related to EVs (sales trends, competitive assessments, technology developments), EV supply chains (critical minerals, batteries, magnets), and Hydrogen & E-Fuels.
- Monitor and report on key policy developments across the world shaping future industry trends in relation to clean technologies in a variety of sectors, including through online reports and publications available to subscribed members.
- Provide analytical support in broader Stratas consulting engagements or other efforts on an ad hoc basis.
- Help coordinate data and information sharing between the teams within Stratas Advisors, as well as assist with communication with clients.
- Help shape effective business development strategies to enhance the outreach of Stratas Advisors’ Cleantech and Hydrogen-related offerings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree in engineering, economics, energy, political science, data analytics, or forecasting is a plus.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in an analyst/research role at a consulting firm, operating company, financial institution, or academic institution with a focus on the energy industry, mobility, renewables, batteries, and/or decarbonization.
- Strong quantitative skills are critical. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office suite applications is also required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to analyze and present complex content by adapting to the target audience.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Basic understanding of the energy industry including familiarity with basic fuel technologies, EV supply chains, industry trends, and regulatory environment.
- Understanding of general economics and some familiarity with international markets.
- Willingness to travel for business on an occasional basis (less than 10%).
- Written and oral proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and/or Portuguese is a plus.
