Description
We are seeking a motivated bioinformatics technician who wants to join the Guilliams and Scott labs with the VIB-Center for Inflammation Research. We have developed, and continue to advance, a set of untargeted and targeted spatial, single-cell, single-nucleus, and perturbational omics technologies. You will use these datasets, coming from both model organisms and patients, to uncover mechanisms of liver cells in health and disease (metabolic, cancer, regeneration, development). We have a particular interest in the myeloid compartment of this tissue, which has often been neglected due to the lack of proper techniques to study them, yet has strong translational potential. With new technologies, and the data that you will analyze, we finally have the opportunity to unlock their true potential.
The labs are strongly focused on integrating the wet lab and computational sides. You will work closely together with fellow computational and experimental colleagues, ensuring the data is analyzed in a detailed and scientifically sound manner. Being a team player with attention to detail is therefore a must. The ideal candidate has experience, or at least a strong interest, in learning the newest methods in analysis of single-cell and spatial data.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and other technicians.
- Analyze and integrate single-cell and spatial data. Present your results in one-on-one meetings, lab meetings, and institutional meetings.
- Support wet lab colleagues who want to learn more about data analysis.
- Compare various approaches to analyze your data.
- Create interactive portals to visualize and probe the data for your colleagues and the community.
- Ensure that the data is analyzed in a reproducible and statistically sound way.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with data analysis.
- Contribute to experimental design before the experiment, and provide feedback afterwards based on your data analysis.
- Contribute to a collaborative and productive team environment, participating in regular team meetings and discussions.
- Adapt to the dynamic needs of the project, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Profile
