Excavators, bulldozers, road rollers, cranes and telehandlers: as technical manager for our Belgian construction sites, you make sure that all these machines keep running smoothly.
In Belgium, Jan De Nul builds smart mobility and sustainable, innovative buildings. Think of the Oosterweel Connection, the new Toots Thielemans metro station, the Antwerp prison or the infrastructure for F-35A Fighter Jets. To bring these mega-projects to successful completion, Jan De Nul owns the most comprehensive equipment fleet in Belgium. As Technical Superintendent Site Equipment, you will make sure this equipment always remains operational.
For this job, we are looking for people with the technical skills to assist mechanics and the brains to organize large-scale maintenance activities. You will coordinate out of our office in Aalst, visit construction sites, resolve technical issues, monitor maintenance and repair activities, and manage a team of technical colleagues. You will consult with different parties, ranging from electricians to site technicians and from sales reps to site managers.
Your tasks:
- You coordinate the technical planning and day-to-day organization of site equipment.
- You motivate the technical staff on site and support them when necessary.
- You oversee our stock of site equipment.
- You coordinate the technical maintenance and repair activities.
- You are responsible for inspections of materials, lifting equipment and electrical installations.
- You keep accurate track of the condition of each vehicle and other technical equipment, via tools such as a ERP-programme.
Fortunately, you will not do this alone. You will be part of a skilled team, working alongside both young talents and seasoned colleagues. And of course, you will have the support of your Manager Heavy Equipment. Through our JDN Academy, you will start with a four-week training program and enjoy ongoing development opportunities, learning directly from the experts who came before you.
What you need
Large vehicles and technical installations fascinate you. Excavators, bulldozers, rollers, cranes and telescopic handlers: you could look at them endlessly and love nothing more than tinkering with them. A broken hydraulic pump, leaking valve, short circuits or overloads? You know your way around it (or know the right person to solve the problem).
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree, with specialisation in mechanical engineering or electromechanics
- The indispensable mindset of a solution seeker, a problem solver
- Passion for everything technical
- A feeling for people management
- Planning and organisation talent
- Teamwork skills, coupled with an independent spirit
