About the Role
The Head of Staff is a key role supporting the C-level Team in steering EIT Digital’s strategic priorities, governance and execution. The role ensures alignment across the organisation, drives operational excellence, and manages high-level cross-cutting initiatives.
The Head of Staff orchestrates cross-organisational alignment, anticipates challenges, and ensures decisions are prepared and executed effectively. The role provides leverage to the CEO and the Management Committee, by managing information flow, structuring complex initiatives, and coordinating leadership interactions.
This position requires a combination of strategic insight, organisational discipline, and strong communication skills. The Head of Staff will manage the interface between the CEO, the Management Committee, and the wider organisation, ensuring clarity of priorities, effective follow-through and that decision-making is supported by robust analysis and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic coordination & C-level support:
- provide strategic input and ensure effective preparation for key meetings, negotiations, and external engagements.
- drive follow-up on decisions and actions arising from the Management Committee, Supervisory Board, and General Assembly.
- epresent the management in internal and external meetings where appropriate.
Operational excellence & governance
- monitor implementation of the organisation’s strategy and priorities, providing regular updates and ensuring cross-team alignment.
- support effective governance by preparing and reviewing materials for high-level meetings
Cross-Organisational alignment
- act as the bridge between different teams to ensure coherence, timely delivery, and consistency of priorities.
- Collaborate with Communication & Stakeholder Relations, Operations & EU Project portfolio and delivery teams ensuring consistent execution of strategic priorities.
Special projects & initiatives
- drive the acquisition of specific cross-functional projects on behalf of the Management Committee and lead the initial delivery ensuring they meet deadlines and objectives.
- anticipate challenges and proactively address risks or bottlenecks.
- oversee the transition of projects to delivery teams, ensuring a smooth handover once objectives are stabilised and sustainable execution is secured.
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- Proven leadership experience in strategy, operations, or senior advisory roles (consulting, international organisations, or corporate environments); leadership experience in a EIT KIC is an asset
- Strong understanding of governance, organisational processes, and performance management
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, complex projects, and sensitive issues with discretion.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a data-driven mindset.
- International experience and cross-cultural sensitivity, with the ability to work in diverse and distributed teams.
- Strong interest in emerging technologies and their positive impact on society and economy.
- Education: Master’s degree or equivalent; Recognised Project Management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent.
Location
Preferably at EIT Digital HQ in Brussels. Other EIT Digital locations may be considered, provided there is easy access to key European markets.
