Key Responsibilities:
As the Senior Director, Head of Research Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for:
Technology Roadmap Development:
Strategically own, define, and progress the technology roadmap to enhance laboratory computing capabilities for pharmaceutical R&D operations, including embedding of automation, artificial intelligence and advanced data management into laboratory workflows
Ensure alignment with overall business objectives and innovation goals of the organization.
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead a diverse global team of engineers and technologists, providing guidance and support in developing cutting-edge research systems.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence within the team.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, IT, and operations, to gather requirements and identify opportunities for technology integration.
Offer strategic insight into how technology should best be deployed across multiple therapeutic modalities including Small Molecules, Protein therapeutics, Cell and Gene Therapy and other advanced modalities
Present findings, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders.
Product Management:
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of investments in research systems technology products, ensuring they meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Utilize agile methodologies to enhance project responsiveness and effectiveness.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in laboratory computing and analytical tools, proposing initiatives to leverage these advancements.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and enhance R&D operational efficiency.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Ensure all systems and processes comply with industry regulations and quality standards specifically GXP processes.
Identify potential risks and develop risk mitigation strategies to safeguard R&D operations.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field.
Experience: 10+ years in technology leadership roles, with extensive experience in research systems engineering within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
Technical Skills: Proven expertise in laboratory computing systems, data analytics, and integration of laboratory workflows.
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of managing diverse teams and driving organizational change.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, with experience presenting to senior management and stakeholders.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to envision long-term opportunities and develop actionable strategies to achieve them.
