POLITICO is seeking an experienced Senior Ad Operations Manager for our pioneering and growing media company, based in London, Brussels, or Berlin. The Advertising Operations team are the experts on the processes and systems that support the delivery of POLITICO’s advertising campaigns. We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Ad Operations Manager, Team Lead to oversee a team of 2-4 AdOps specialists, manage day-to-day ad delivery, and drive continuous operational improvement.
As a Senior Adops Manager, responsibilities will include managing stakeholders, delivering booked campaigns, and ensuring maximum yield across all ad platforms. Additionally, you will support the team by championing and supporting various Ad operations tasks, such as AI, programmatic advertising, Order mgmt tools, task management tools, inventory management, reporting, data and insights, tech and troubleshooting, and utilizing various other tools and platforms.
Your Role:
- Oversee a team of 2-4 Ad Operations specialists, providing support through regular 1:1s, coaching, and performance management.
- Campaign Execution and Quality Assurance - platform management, overseeing setup and launch of campaigns across display, mobile, newsletters, podcasts, print, and video.
- QA all campaign elements to ensure technical accuracy, timely launches, and successful delivery.
- Respond to support tickets and troubleshoot live issues using tools such as Google Ad Manager (GAM) and other ad platforms.
- Identify new opportunities for revenue growth through emerging platforms and improved ad formats.
- Define and implement scalable processes to enhance team efficiency and campaign delivery.
- Maintain up-to-date documentation around benchmarks, trackers, workflows, billing, and access management.
- Coordinate with Tech and BI teams to resolve delivery issues and ensure accurate reporting.
- Serve as a key liaison to Client Solutions managers to provide technical guidance
- Actively collaborate with internal departments including Brand Content Studio, Marketing, Events, and Production.
- Manage relationships with Adtech vendors, support legal teams on partnership agreements, and represent POLITICO at industry events and webinars.
- Monitor industry trends and evolving best practices in ad technology, monetization strategies, and compliance. Ensure compliance with advertising policies, technical specifications, and regulatory standards.
Your Profile:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in media or advertising operations, preferably at a media agency, ad tech provider, DSP/SSP, or digital publisher.
- Proven experience managing or leading AdOps professionals, with a focus on people development and team performance.
- Advanced knowledge of ad serving technologies including Google Ad Manager, DCM tags, third-party ad servers, VAST/VPAID, HTML5, and Javascript.
- Strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of campaign performance metrics and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with web development basics (HTML, CSS).
- Experience with task management and ticketing tools such as Asana or Jira.
- Strong communication skills in English (written and spoken); proficiency in another European language is a plus. Bachelor’s degree or relevant certificate in advertising, marketing, data analytics, or a related field.
