YOUR TASKS
- You perform comprehensive analyses of pyrolysis feedstocks and resulting products.
- You develop and optimize GC×GC methods for the characterization of complex pyrolysis products.
- You design and develop novel catalysts with improved stability and activity for cracking mixed plastic waste pyrolysis vapors.
- You characterize catalysts to investigate the relationship between physicochemical properties and product distribution.
- You collaborate closely with other researchers in the Laboratory for Chemical Technology.
- You supervise and mentor master’s students in their projects on chemical recycling of mixed plastic waste and catalyst synthesis, and you share expertise through technical presentations and detailed reports.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering. The degree requirements need to be fulfilled at the start of your appointment.
- You have an excellent command of English and are motivated to write technical reports and scientific publications.
- You live in Belgium or are willing to reside in Belgium during the research period.
- You are able to manage projects effectively and on time, both independently and as part of a team.
- You have experience in the thermochemical valorization of polyolefins.
- You have experience in operating Py-GC×GC/MS-based tandem microreactors..
- You have experience in pyrolysis oil analysis using advanced analytical techniques such as GC×GC/MS, GC-RGA, GC×GC/NCD, GC×GC/AED, FTIR, etc.
- You have experience in catalyst modification methods, particularly alkaline treatment for mesopore introduction, wet impregnation, and steaming.
- You have experience in catalyst characterization techniques such as pyridine-FTIR, XRD, XPS, TPD, and BET analysis.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration with a maximum of 2 years.
- Your contract will start on 27/10/2025 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
