Knowledge of the Dutch language is a prerequisite for this job
As a QHSSE Advisor, you play a key role in monitoring quality, health, safety, security, and the environment (QHSSE) at our civil construction sites. The Defense Headquarters in Evere, the prison in Antwerp, the Oosterweel connection, Energy Island, VRT in Brussels — all Jan De Nul Group projects.
As a Prevention Advisor, you will be part of the permanent project team at one or more of our civil construction sites in Flandres or Wallonie.
Your day starts with a walkaround on site. You put on your personal protective equipment and have a quick chat with the site manager before heading out onto the site together:How is the project progressing? What’s planned for the coming weeks and months? Have there been any issues or challenges? Are there matters you need to be aware of or can help resolve?
During your round, you observe the ongoing work together with the site team and check if the safety procedures are being followed. You engage in conversation with the workers on site and show a genuine interest in what they do. If there is a safety issue, you address it diplomatically.
As a Prevention Advisor, you will:
Be responsible for quality, health, safety, security, and environmental (QHSSE) matters during the prequalification, tender, and start-up phases.
Advise site managers, foremen, and workers on safety at their project and encourage them to uphold the highest safety standards.
Draft instructions for the safe and proper use of new equipment and machinery.
Help organize safety training in and around our project sites.
Serve as a partner to the site and project management, acting as the link between the construction site and Jan De Nul’s office departments. Your helicopter view and extensive (internal) network help ensure the work on site runs smoothly and safely.
A brief summary of your responsibilities:
Monitor the safety and efficiency of operations on your assigned projects at various stages of execution.
Coordinate closely with site and project management, and engage with foremen, workers, and subcontractors.
Assess QHSSE risks and assist the project manager in achieving SMART objectives.
Prepare project-specific documentation (QHSSE implementation plan, emergency plan, inspection and test plan), and support the project team during execution.
Identify and analyze safety issues on site and document them properly in our system. You also follow up on these incidents.
Investigate workplace accidents and monitor the implementation of preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Facilitate and carry out QHSSE audits and inspections.
