Functie

The Power BI Lead is a pivotal role within the Digital Innovation & AI team, responsible for spearheading the company's efforts in leveraging Power BI to transform data into actionable insights and providing business value. This role involves a blend of technical mastery, leadership, and strategic vision, aimed at enhancing the organization's decision-making capabilities through effective data visualization and business intelligence solutions. You will drive the adoption and optimization of PowerBI across the organization, including creating and implementing best practices, coaching employees, establishing a Power BI Centre of Excellence, and working closely with business units to deliver clear, impactful reports and dashboards.

• Building the foundation and leading our community: Creating and providing best practices, guidance, and training for everyone using Power BI at Nyrstar Group as well as coaching Power BI developers, fostering knowledge sharing and collaboration.
• Championing Excellence: Setting up a dedicated Power BI Center of Excellence to drive continuous learning and innovation.
• Unlocking Insights: Partnering with business units to understand their reporting needs and translate them into actionable Power BI dashboards.
• Ensure value from vendors: Overseeing and enhancing relationships with PowerBi development vendors (e.g. Plainwater) ensuring alignment with goals and service delivery.
• The Power BI Answer Person: Acting as the trusted resource for colleagues and business stakeholders on all things Power BI applications, reports, and dashboards.
• Crafting Clear Reports: Designing and developing reports that deliver clear and valuable insights to stakeholders. Providing expert advice on maintaining, monitoring, and optimizing existing Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Sharing Best Practices: Using mockups, POCs, and ongoing guidance to promote a data-driven culture.
• Ensuring Quality: Reviewing reports developed internally or externally to ensure quality and adherence to standards. Providing Data Quality governance.
• Working with Teams: Collaborating with internal teams to understand their data analysis and visualization needs.
• Transforming Data: Working with the Senior Data Engineering Lead to refine raw data, turning it into meaningful insights.
• Managing Roadmaps: Collaborating with users, vendors, and stakeholders to create and manage roadmaps for enhancements, bug fixes, and incident resolution.

Profiel

• At least 8+ years of experience in a similar role, BI and reporting lead developer, Team Lead, Community Lead, Product Owner, or BI Solution Architect.
• Experience within the production industry to understand the specific needs of large manufacturing companies is advantageous.
• Experience with giving interactive PowerBI training sessions to empower team members with the tools and insights needed to create dynamic reports and dashboards that drive data-driven decision-making.
• Expertise in PowerBI, encompassing a comprehensive skill set that includes reporting tools, the PowerBI Admin Portal, Gateways, DataFlows, Premium Capacities, Power Query, and DAX. Your proficiency extends to advanced PowerBI components such as dashboarding, modeling, governance, and embedded analytics, solidifying your status as a true expert.
• A strong understanding of Azure Enterprise BI Solution Architecture, products, and services (Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services, Databricks, DataVerse, etc.) is a big plus. Bonus points for SAP experience!
• Experience with DevOps for collaboration.
• Proficient in English and have exceptional skills in conveying complex concepts to a non-technical audience. Dutch and/or French languages are a plus.
• You have (or wish to have) a Microsoft Certified Professional certificate.
• A methodical, detail-oriented, and organized approach.
• A proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach to challenges.
• You have a flexible, independent and collegial attitude.
