Intro
Millions of people are fleeing war, hunger, persecution or natural disasters. Most of them reside in third-world countries. But people also arrive in Belgium in search of a new home and a safe haven.
At the request of the government, Red Cross-Flanders receives refugees in a temporary emergency reception center in Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe.
Job description
- You are jointly responsible for the practical organization of the reception center;
- You ensure adequate application of the internal regulations;
- You are jointly responsible for the psychosocial counseling of applicants for international protection;
- You take care of administrative (mail, etc.) and logistical tasks (stock management, etc.);
- You ensure a good information flow;
- You have a signaling function to the center manager.
Your profile
- You have at least a secondary education degree in a people-oriented field and have gained experience in conversation techniques (and can discuss sensitive issues)
- You speak and understand English fluently (= the working language in the center). Other languages are an asset.
- You have experience in working with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- Ideally, you have several years of experience in psychosocial counseling of people in vulnerable situations (e.g., as an educator, social worker, counselor, etc.)
- You have a hands-on-mentality.
- You are willing to work in a shift system with weekend shifts and are flexible.
- You work fluently and efficiently with different applications within MS Office (including Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint). At the same time you have experience with elec-tronic follow-up of resident files. Knowledge and/or experience with SharePoint is a plus.
- You are an organizational talent and administratively accurate.
- You are empathetic and diplomatic, but can also set clear boundaries.
Our offer
- Full-time position (38h/week);
- Waking nights from 9:45 pm to 8 am, working on a cycle of 7 consecutive nights alternating with 7 consecutive days off;
- Replacement contract (minimum 6 months);
- Emergency shelter clause: duration depends on government assignment in the context of organizing emergency shelter for applicants for international protection;
- Salary according to scale 224 in PC 319.00: we take half of your total years of work experience in account for your seniority.
- For working at night, you will receive an average shift bonus of 24.93%;
- Meal vouchers of 8 Euro per day;
- Group insurance and possibility of joining hospitalization insurance (with personal con-tribution);
- Commuting by train is fully reimbursed - in a bus subscription we intervene 75%, a net bicycle allowance of 0,36€/km; reimbursement of other means of transport (car, mo-torcycle) is in accordance with sectoral and legal rules.
