The scope, here, is to ensure robust health, safety, and environmental management within a pharmaceutical laboratory environment, contributing directly to operational continuity and regulatory compliance.
The Key responsibilities expected from our consultant might include:
- Develop, implement, and update the global prevention plan and the yearly action plan in line with Belgian law.
- Implement local safety, health, and environmental requirements.
- Draft and maintain HSE documents: reports, procedures, and KPIs.
- Conduct risk analyses and workplace inspections in pharmaceutical labs, including ATEX zones.
- Evaluate risks linked to laboratory and chemical activities.
- Investigate incidents and accidents, write detailed reports, and propose corrective or preventive actions.
- Check that work complies with Belgian and EU safety laws, GMP, and ISO 45001.
- Stay up to date with changes in safety rules and pharmaceutical standards.
- Advise management and staff on HSE policies, best practices, and legal duties.
- Organize and deliver safety awareness sessions and trainings for all staff.
- Perform the legal role of Prevention Adviser.
- Serve as secretary for the Committee for Prevention and Protection at Work (CPPT).
- Coordinate HSE actions with internal teams and give punctual support when needed.
- Work closely with the Environmental Advisor to align on sustainability and compliance goals.
- Collaborate with external prevention services and regulators, and report to the group HSE direction.
The experience we are actively looking for:
- Certified Prevention Advisor Level 2 (Belgium).
- 3–7 years of experience in a similar role within pharmaceutical, chemical, or laboratory environments.
- Strong knowledge of Belgian welfare at work legislation and pharmaceutical industry safety practices.
- Analytical mindset, accuracy, and solid organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to train and engage staff effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools and HSE reporting systems.
- Fluent in Dutch and English; French is an asset.
- Valid work and residence permits for Belgium (mandatory for non-EU candidates).
- Immediate availability and presence in Belgium are preferred.
