We are looking for a talented Installation & Commissioning Engineer to join our team specialising in Engineering for our Commissioning department in Oevel, Belgium.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Accelerate Product Issue Resolution: You'll proactively identify and investigate product or system issues, helping reduce downtime and improve customer satisfaction through timely solutions.
- Enable High-Quality Service Events: By preparing the service channel with the right tools, parts, and accurate diagnostics, you'll ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
- Bridge Field and Engineering Teams: Acting as a liaison, you'll translate field insights into actionable feedback for Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams, driving continuous improvement.
- Support Root Cause Analysis: You'll collaborate with technical experts to analyze failure trends and implement long-term fixes that enhance product reliability.
- Lead Moderately Complex Projects: As you grow, you'll take ownership of issue resolution and development projects, managing technical complexity and ambiguity with increasing independence.
- Apply Structured Problem-Solving: Using tools like the seven-step problem-solving approach and product development roadmaps, you'll contribute to systematic and sustainable improvements.
- Drive Process and System Improvements: You'll engage in refining internal processes and systems, helping the organization become more agile and responsive to customer needs.
- Develop Technical and Leadership Skills: Through hands-on experience and coordination with technicians or student employees, you'll build both your technical proficiency and leadership capabilities.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Technical Expertise & Practical Engineering Skills: A degree in electromechanical engineering (or equivalent experience) is essential, along with hands-on skills in interpreting schematics (electrical and mechanical), conducting end-of-line testing, and resolving installation issues on-site.
- Good knowledge and command of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) as it is used during the installation part.
- Project & Site Management Abilities: You’ll need to confidently manage subcontractors, supervise installation and construction activities, and conduct site surveys—ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Adaptability & High Mobility: With a travel rate over 60% (after training period Installation and commissioning at the customer site primarily covering Europe with occasionnal assignments to Asia and Africa, assignments from a couple of weeks to months depending on the workload and progress report, flexibility and readiness to work in diverse environments are crucial. You must also be able to handle a high volume of customer needs and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong Communication & Documentation Skills: Success depends on your ability to promote efficient information flow, maintain accurate records of commissioned equipment, and perform clear, professional handovers during Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
Education/Experience:
- College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
- Entry level/Early career professional. Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area.
- Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred.
