Are you a seasoned professional in energy management, climate strategy, or industrial sustainability? Are you ready to leverage your experience to lead strategic energy initiatives and shape the energy transition in a high-impact industrial environment?
At Borealis, we are looking for an Energy & Climate Manager to take a leading role in our Beringen and Geleen sites. You will work at the interface of operational excellence, strategic planning, and regulatory compliance—ensuring our industrial footprint becomes smarter, cleaner, and more sustainable.
This role offers an outstanding opportunity to drive long-term energy efficiency, steer strategic partnerships, and influence policy implementation across our sites.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and optimize energy management systems (ISO 50001, EU ETS), ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability and decarbonization goals.
- Drive complex decarbonization and energy efficiency projects, leveraging data, advanced technologies, and cross-site collaboration.
- Advise on regulatory compliance and energy policy, translating frameworks into actionable corporate and site-level strategies.
- Identify risks and opportunities, shaping long-term energy and climate strategies that enhance resilience and operational performance.
- Act as a senior advisor and mentor, engaging internal and external stakeholders, guiding teams, and supporting energy sourcing and contract negotiations.
About you
- You hold a master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Energy, or related discipline) and have 5+ years of experience in energy-intensive or chemical industries, with a strong track record in energy systems, decarbonization, or industrial sustainability.
- You bring deep knowledge of energy markets, industrial utilities, and climate legislation, and are confident navigating cross-functional teams and regulatory environments.
- Your skillset includes strategic thinking, project management, and data analytics, with an ability to translate technical insight into business impact.
- You’re fluent in English and Dutch, and have excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- You bring a strong sense of ownership, business acumen, and commitment to continuous improvement in safety, sustainability, and performance.
