OneSpan is looking for a technically highly skilled Director, Cloud Architecture and Operations- This is both a technical leadership and people management role:
Technical leadership role in our SaaS Cloud team for our security business unit. It includes operating high quality, scalable, and extensible software, and includes coaching technically the team in making appropriate infrastructure design and technology choices.
In a highly evolving environment on technical landscape, we are looking for a very technical profile, passionate about cloud software and current evolution of the market including Artificial Intelligence both on technical side and its usage to improve team performance.
A people management role that requires the ability to hire and grow talent and scale to manage multiple teams. The role also requires strong strategic thinking, with the ability to think of out of the box solutions and to assist in build/buy/partner decisions. Strong communication inside and outside of engineering teams is critical. Due to the fast-pace changes in technology and cloud software development, this role also requires a visionary profile, with the ability to influence teams and conduct change management, through strong technical drive to improve processes, tools, team expertise and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, deployment, maintenance, and operations of critical production environments and enforce operation and security measures.
- Establish end-to-end monitoring and alerting for production environments.
- Monitor systems to identify and resolve operational issues and ensure 24x7 support coverage within the team for production environments.
- Own availability, reliability, and performance SLI/SLO/SLA for OneSpan cloud products of this business unit.
- Drive retrospective processes, perform root cause analysis and work towards continuous improvement.
- Drive automation, effective monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code best practices.
- Drive company FinOps practices from software design in collaboration with our cloud provide, engineering, architecture leaders. Monitor cost in the cloud environment, propose areas of improvements to minimize cloud costs.
- Drive engineering team(s) towards adopting DevOps best practices for Cloud products.
- Based on best practices and industry standards, identify, and drive technical & process improvement opportunities to improve organizational efficiency.
- Work with Development, Architecture and Security teams to solve technical issues during planning, design, development, testing and deployment phases of product development cycles.
- Assist with the creation of documentation including technical specifications, best practices, standards, operating procedures, workflows, runbooks, training docs, etc.
- Provide, communicate and maintain a technical DevOps and operation roadmap to improve-facilitate product deliveries and cost of operations in the cloud.
- Understand delivery requirements & dependencies. Commit on delivery timelines on a quarterly basis.
- Identify, mitigate, monitor, and escalate delivery risks, issues, and scope changes during product development cycles.
- Lead, mentor and grow a team of DevOps and cloud operations administrators.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of software industry experience in SaaS-based related applications and a at least 5 years' experience of AWS environments.
- At least 5+ years of proven managerial experience developing a high-performing team with a servant leadership approach, coaching team members to grow their expertise, autonomy, collaboration skills and accountability.
- Proven experience managing and leading a DevOps and Cloud Operation team.
- Proven hand-on experience expertise (for at least the past 3 years) in a significant number of AWS Services (including but not limited to : ECS, EKS, EC2, Aurora DB, DynamoDB, SQS, networking, security services)
- Experience in software development and leading engineering teams prior to focusing on DevOps activities.
- Proven expertise in automation, virtualization, orchestration (like Kubernetes), continuous integration, deployment, and implementation. Experience of at least 5 years in using those technologies is required.
- Experience with building/deploying/scaling/managing distributed systems at an enterprise level.
- Proven expertise of minimum 3 years with IAC (Infra as code) and configuration management tools like Terraform, ArgoCD, Ansible etc.
- Experience in managing AWS saving plans/reserve instances or equivalent from another cloud vendor.
- Interest and experience in artificial intelligence and how it could be used in a DevOps context in the future

- Strong communication, with the ability to explain complex technical problems to non-technical audiences and the ability to translate customer requirements to technical designs.
- Ability to drive technically the teams, within the Ops group but also influence technical choices in other technical groups.
- Ability to think innovative, strategically, and solid judgment and how/when to escalate
- Experience presentation skills to customers would be a plus
