We currently have a vacancy for a Business Intelligence expert (Synapse), fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Brussels, Belgium. The work will be carried out either on the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated into the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site.
Tasks:
- Creation and maintenance of Enterprise Data Warehouses (EDW) and Business Intelligence Solutions (Data Lakes / Data Lakehouses);
- Creation and maintenance of data pipelines and foundational datasets to support analytics, modelling, experimentation, and product/business needs;
- Design and build database architectures with massive and complex data, balancing ergonomic benefits with computational load and cost;
- Close collaboration with data science, engineering, and DevSecOps teams to improve the coverage, accuracy, and reliability of instrumentation and monitoring;
- Creation of scalable dashboards and reports, using Power BI, to support business objectives and enable data-driven decision making;
- Designing architectures mostly on the cloud using Power BI, but potentially also on premises (whether hosting or cloud on-premises) or combination of both (hybrid);
- Designing ETL processes, using tools in accordance with the corporate catalog and in particular Microsoft Synapse;
- Design and development of reporting applications and physical DB design;
- Database performance analysis, in collaboration with the DevSecOps team;
- Design of data quality and performance monitoring processes.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with minimum 13 years of relevant working experience in IT;
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with similar products of the market (MS Synapse) or Certification on Microsoft Synapse, for example Microsoft Azure Date Engineer Associate;
- Excellent knowledge of designing ETL / data pipelines using Microsoft Synapse;
- Excellent knowledge of SQL and online analytical data processing (OLAP) and data mining tools;
- Very good knowledge of Python and Apache Spark;
- Excellent knowledge of data warehouse / data lake and data Lakehouse design;
- Excellent knowledge of relational database systems applied to data warehouse;
- Excellent knowledge of access rights management in Datawarehouse/data lake, in particular, segregation of access at row level based on user roles;
- Good knowledge of cloud-based design particularly Microsoft Azure;
- Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in Big Data and AI;
- Excellent knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools and specific knowledge of Microsoft Power BI is considered an asset;
- Strong knowledge of non-relational database technologies, in particular, specific knowledge of vector database used to store embeddings in the context of AI-based solutions (e.g. RAG) is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of R would be considered an asset;
- Excellent command of the English language.
