About the position
The AI Community and International Markets Lead at EIT Digital plays a pivotal role in advancing the global positioning of the organisation’s artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. This position is essential for shaping international strategic partnerships, scaling European AI innovation globally, and aligning EIT Digital's efforts with major innovation and education developments across borders.
Main responsibilities
- Manage AI innovation projects and deliver business and ecosystem support activities focused on start-ups and scale-ups.
- Facilitate synergies across AI-related projects, aligning efforts between startups, corporates, researchers, and policymakers.
- Lead or co-lead the preparation and submission of international and EU/national grant proposals, commercial tenders, and strategic funding opportunities focused on AI.
- Support cross-functional collaboration within EIT Digital for flagship initiatives such as internationalization, AI ecosystems, and dual-use technology innovation.
- Contribute to concept development and manage the execution of high-level international events and delegations, in coordination with EIT Digital teams and partners.
- Supervise and coordinate reporting (financial, operational, and impact-related) of international and AI-related activities for senior management and EIT governance.
- Contribute to building and maintain strategic partnerships with international stakeholders, including industry, academia, governments, accelerators, and multilaterals.
- Collaborate with EIT Digital's regional teams and Nodes to support ecosystem engagement and global outreach, beyond business-as-usual collaboration models.
- Represent EIT Digital in international policy discussions and innovation forums related to AI and deep tech, including multilateral, national, and EU-level platforms.
Qualifications and experience
Education
- BSc in a STEM discipline, preferably Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or Information Technology.
- Master’s degree in AI, Technology Policy, Innovation Management, International Business, or a related field.
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience working in AI, digital innovation, or technology-driven market development.
- Demonstrated experience in ecosystem development, global partnerships, or international expansion strategies.
- Background in working with EU-funded projects or international innovation frameworks is a strong asset.
- Track record in organising or contributing to high-level international collaborations, tech events, or strategic programmes.
- Prior experience working in or with start-ups is considered a strong asset.
Skills
- Strong understanding of AI technologies, trends, and their socio-economic impact.
- Experience in managing complex projects involving multiple international stakeholders.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and diplomacy skills, with a focus on international relationship building.
- Solid understanding of legal, financial, and regulatory contexts relevant to international partnerships and AI.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset, proactive attitude, and ability to work independently when needed.
- Strong team player who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced, and cross-cultural environments.
Languages
Fluent in English (spoken and written) is required. Additional proficiency in French, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish, Finnish, Swedish, or Hungarian is considered a merit.
International travel
This position requires frequent international travel, especially within Europe and key partner regions (e.g. North America, Asia).
Place of employment
Preferred location is the EIT Digital office in Brussels, though other EIT Digital European offices with strong international connectivity may be considered.

EIT Digital Strategic Synergies & International Markets Manager.
