What You’ll Do:
The Transportation Specialist will be responsible for executing container movements across European road, rail, and inland waterway networks, based on arbitrage and/or inventory management opportunities identified by senior management. Issue/manage Sales invoice/bookings to customers.
This is a dual-facing role, combining internal collaboration and pricing support (inside sales) with external engagement of European transport providers. The Transportation Specialist will work cross-functionally with Operations, Logistics, Sales, and Leasing teams, while also serving as a key external liaison with trucking, rail, and barge providers across Europe. A strong emphasis is placed on managing vendor relationships and ensuring rate schedules are kept up to date.
Key responsibilities include:
- Implement container movements based on pre-identified arbitrage strategies supplied by senior management and commercial leads.
- Translate strategy into action by sourcing capacity, securing rates, and activating multimodal routes across trucking, rail, and barge.
- Ensure end-to-end coordination of container flows between origin and destination hubs (Point A to Point B), while adapting to real-world constraints.
- Act as a commercial operations bridge between Logistics, Sales, and Leasing teams.
- Support inside sales by providing rate visibility, transit time estimates, and execution feasibility for proposed transport solutions.
- Build and manage a network of reliable trucking companies, rail operators and barge carriers servicing European corridors.
- Negotiate short- and long-term rates and service terms in alignment with the company's arbitrage models and/or as determined by the regional management team.
- Ensure rates are updated, traceable, and easily accessible across commercial and operational teams.
- Monitor carrier performance, manage service exceptions, and maintain strong vendor relationships.
- Maintain a central repository of all carrier rates, accessorial charges, and contract terms.
- Provide pricing inputs to support tendering, quoting, and spot-market decisions.
- Resolve real-time execution issues with agility, including congestion, carrier cancellations, and weather-related delays.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelors or Associates degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in arranging trucking and transport logistics is mandatory and takes precedence over academic qualifications.
- Minimum 2 years of Operations experience required.
- Driver Dispatch experience preferred.
- Knowledge of container leasing, shipping, or transportation industries preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in additional languages such as Dutch, French, Italian, German and/or or Spanish is a strong plus.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, high-energy level and positive attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to perform efficiently in a team environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to completion under deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain good customer and vendor relations.
- Ability to travel extensively within the assigned area.
- Willingness to work outside regular office hours as reasonably required by the business.
- Must be at a commutable distance (within 50 miles) to the Antwerp office
