The European Broadcasting Union EBU is looking for a Senior Finance & HR Officer.

ABOUT THE AISBL EBU-UER OFFICE

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) is the world’s leading alliance of public service media, headquartered in Geneva. EBU’s Brussels office (AISBL EBU-UER, a not-for-profit organisation of under Belgian law) promotes and defends the interests of its Members in the field of public service media vis-à-vis international organisations, particularly the EU institutions. The Brussels office, about 15 people, is part of the EBU Legal & Policy department.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

EBU’s Brussels office is seeking a Senior Finance & HR Officer (SFHO) to assist the Managing Director in the smooth running of EBU’s Brussels office, specifically for finance, HR and governance.

Finance: The SFHO, with support from the Finance team in EBU Geneva, ensures that AISBL EBU-UER meets its internal and external Belgian financial obligations including accounting, VAT, budget and financial analysis, treasury, risk and insurance. The SFO also manages EBU’s building lease and subleases in Brussels.

Human Resources: In collaboration with the administrative assistant, the SFHO ensures that payroll, pensions, HR budget and recruitment and other HR activities are executed smoothly and in accordance with Belgian legislation.

Governance: The SFHO assists the AISBL’s Managing Director in the governance of the AISBL. For example: statutes, board meetings and general assemblies, internal control and statutory reporting obligations.

EU funded projects: The SFHO ensures finance, HR and governance compliance for EU funded projects undertaken by AISBL EBU-UER.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

  • At least 5 years experience in a position of responsibility for finance, HR and/or governance of an organization.
  • At least 2 years experience of compliance with rules for EU funded projects.
  • Ability to understand and communicate detailed finance, HR and governance processes
  • Prior knowledge of Belgian finance/HR/governance processes would be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and handle and prioritise multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong critical thinking skills, i.e. assess a complex issue and determine the best course of action
  • Proactive and solution-oriented, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent judgement, demonstrating flexible and pragmatic approach
  • Strong team player, able to coordinate support from different sources
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality across all tasks
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics (Accounting system) is a plus
  • Already has permission to work in EU

LANGUAGE - Excellent command of written and spoken English and French

EDUCATION - Professional Certificate or Associate's Degree in Business Administration, Office Management, or a related field preferred/required
