YOUR TASKS
- The employee will work in the DustOrigin group at UGent, and will conduct research on dust evolution and destruction mechanisms in extreme environments (e.g., supernova remnants and turbulent interstellar media).
- The researcher will assist in the co-supervision of master and PhD students working on related topics.
- The researcher will also conduct high-level scientific research with the aim to answer current open questions about dust evolution and destruction in the interstellar medium of galaxies.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- You hold a thesis-based doctorate in Physics or Astrophysics (or a related field).
- You have experience with analysing magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) simulations.
- You have research experience in the field of hydrodynamics, interstellar dust and supernovae.
- You are a proficient user of various coding languages (e.g., fortran, Python, C++).
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period from 12 months.
- Your contract will start on 1 October 2025 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale WM1 to WM4 (if you hold a Master’s degree) or salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales.
