Position Summary:
The Vice President, Property and Casualty Underwriting is responsible for developing underwriting strategies, policies and plans that grow the Property and Casualty business. The role collaborates with executive leadership to establish underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures, ensures compliance with industry regulations, and optimizes risk management practices. They foster a culture of innovation, provide mentorship for talent development, and ensure a profitable underwriting approach.Location:

Job Responsibilities:
- Delivery of the existing business plan.
- Working with the Group Executive team to formulate and deliver a longer-term strategy in line with the Castel group’s strategic aim
- Ownership of the underwriting framework and performance.
- Oversight of claims handling process, including complaints monitoring and resolution.
- Assist develop management information reporting and group reporting capabilities.
- Assisting with the development and marketing of the Company brand(s).
- Working with the wider executive team in order to develop additional opportunities for building out the Arena platform through the addition of additional classes of business.
- Working with lead underwriters throughout the group to explore accretive opportunities for matching Belgian distribution with existing product lines.
- Human Resource management for the Arena team.
- Having an awareness of the local regulatory risk and compliance landscape and ensuring the company is fully compliant at all times.
- Responsible for identifying and delivering operational and technological efficiencies throughout the company.
- Building relationships with existing commercial relationships such as the management of key sports federations and capacity providers.
- Attendance at the quarterly company board meeting.
Experience required:
- At least 15 years’ non-life insurance experience, including senior-level underwriting and management experience.
- Deep knowledge of Belgian (and to a lesser extent the French) specialty insurance market.
- Management experience in a multi-class insurance environment.
- Strong analytical and presentational skills.
- Technically strong underwriting background.
- Solid awareness of regulatory landscape and compliance requirements.
- Excellent people manager.
- Ability to develop key commercial relationships.
- Entrepreneurial
- Fluent in Flemish, French and English.
- Extensive network in the Belgium insurance market
- Excellent networking skills
