Job Description
You will join the HQ Controlling team, based in Dottenijs. We are executing all industrial controlling, product costing and sales controlling tasks for the group. As part of our journey towards stronger transparency, efficiency and standardized processes, we are looking for a cost controller, who will be involved in both industrial & commercial controlling. You will gain a broad and deep understanding of our products, operations and business model – and have a real impact on our company’s growth.
As Cost Controller, you will be the analytical backbone of product costing – owning the numbers that drive costs and profitability. You will bridge the gap between industrial controlling and commercial costing, working closely with HQ controlling team members, as well as factory staff and other cross-departmental colleagues. Your work will directly influence strategic make-or-buy decisions, cost-saving initiatives, and the accuracy of our customer offers.
If you enjoy digging into Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing, cost drivers, and variances – and if you are curious enough to walk the factory floors and challenge the status quo – this role is for you.
Task and Responsabilities
- Own & Challenge Product Costing
- Calculate, verify, and update costings of both internally produced as externally procured materials
- Support industrial controlling team in costing of non-standard products
- Analyze BOMs, routings, speeds, and material prices to identify cost drivers and variances
- Proactively spot costing issues of outdated prices, process changes, …
- Analyze & optimize cost calculation for mixed-group costing (SAP PLC)
- Collaborate & Influence
- Work hand-in-hand with procurement to challenge purchase prices to target costs & support make-or-buy decisions with robust financial analysis
- Support in the industrial controlling tasks for the Dottenijs factory
- Assist the industrial controlling team with standard costing and actual cost interpretation through SAP (BI) tools
- Drive Digital & Process Improvements
- Further roll-out of SAP PLC costing tool
- Play a key role in the upcoming S4/HANA implementation, helping to optimize costing processes
- Support efforts to automate and standardize in processes in the current SAP R3
- Cross-Functional Support
- Provide support to the sales controlling team during peak periods for project valuation and closing deadlines
- Conduct ad hoc analyses to support management decisions
- Get Hands-On:
- Travel (approx. 5%) to production sites across Europe (Belgium, Czech Republic, Portugal, Germany, France and Turkey) to understand local costing and production differences
- Immerse yourself in factory operations, building deep knowledge and strong relationships
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
- Master (financial or related) or similar through experience.
- 5 to 10 years of solid product costing experience (exposure to industrial controlling is a plus)
- Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Curious and proactive —you don’t just accept numbers, you question, challenge, and seek to understand the business behind them
- Comfortable navigating ERP systems (SAP experience is a big plus)
- Good communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing change and building robust processes
- Willing to travel to other Stow factories (+/- 5% of time)
