Pharmaceutical Product Development & Supply (PPDS) is within the Discovery, Product Development & Supply (DPDS) organization of Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson responsible for the development of Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms. Development centers are located in the US, Asia and Europe.
For the location in Europe (Belgium, Beerse) there is a temporary vacancy (3 yrs) for an Associate Scientist for Oral Solids Development.
In the Oral Solid Development department in Beerse, Belgium, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated colleague who shares our ambition to develop break-through products with specific focus on the end-2-end formulation development of small molecules (synthetics) and small peptides into solid dosage forms.
Oral Solid Development (OSD) consists of 45+ dedicated and enthusiastic colleagues from ten different nationalities. Within OSD, scientists are formulating both small molecules, as well as novel oral modalities for advanced drug delivery into dosage forms mainly for oral administration, but also for intranasal, intravesical, inhalation and other drug administration routes.
As an Associate Scientist within OSD your main objective will be to focus on formulation of synthetics, small peptides, therapeutic proteins and other macromolecules into oral solid dosage forms. You will be involved in daily planning and execution of formulation activities, such as the development of tablets via conventional technologies, including direct compression, wet- and/or dry-granulation, film coating, etc. You will engage in follow-up of the scientific work, appropriately document the scientific data and secure progress of the project deliverables on the product portfolio. The formulation work will be done in close collaboration with other scientists as well as with our experienced laboratory technicians. You will work closely together with Pharmaceutical & Material Sciences, Analytical Development, and other R&D teams. You will contribute to intellectual property, knowledge sharing & troubleshooting. Qualifications
Education:
- You must hold a relevant Bachelor or M.Sc degree, preferably in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology.
Experience and Skills:
Required:
- Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
- You have experience and knowledge of oral formulation technologies and oral drug delivery opportunities.
- It will be an advantage if you have hands-on knowledge of technologies like granulation, tableting and film coating will be a plus.
- You have a flexible mind-set which is helpful in the ever-changing project environment.
- To make your ideas practical, you must possess a certain amount of innovation and creativity and be able to think and act unconventionally.
- As you will work in an international organization, you will need good network and interaction abilities and very good English skills – both written and spoken.
